Our lay chaplain/celebrant offers wedding, and other rites of passage ceremonies to the greater Sarnia-Lambton community.
Weddings
If you are interested in a non-traditional wedding ceremony, you might want to consider a Unitarian lay chaplain to officiate.
Our services can be custom designed to be creative and festive to reflect your needs and wishes for your special day. They can include family blessings, chosen readings and music, a unity candle, hand fasting etc.

Our lay chaplain/celebrant
has received lay chaplaincy training through the Canadian Unitarian Council and is licensed to officiate at marriages by the Province of Ontario.
2SLGBTQAI+ Weddings & Ceremonies
Back in 2003, our former lay chaplains/celebrants were the first to offer and conduct legal marriage ceremonies in Sarnia-Lambton for gay and lesbian couples.
Prior to Ontario’s marriage equality law, they conducted same gender unions. As a liberal faith community, we hold diversity of sexual identity as a fundamental principle.
Our Fellowship warmly welcomes 2SLGBTQAI+ persons. In addition to the ceremonies noted above, coming out ceremonies and other rituals can be developed as requested.

Looking to renew your wedding vows to yours truly? Whether it is a notable anniversary year or you just want to celebrate by including new friends and family, our Lay Chaplain/Celebrant can officiate.
We will help you design a meaningful and joyful ceremony that will honour and celebrate your love and commitment

Child Dedications & Blessings
We can help you create a joyful and meaningful ceremony to bestow a name upon your baby or child and to celebrate their arrival into your family.
This wonderful non-traditional ceremony allows family members and friends to dedicate themselves to helping raise the child with love and fairness.
Meet Our Lay Chaplain/Celebrant
Steve Lane is our current lay chaplain/celebrant. Steve is a former television and marketing executive who has now settled back into his home town of Sarnia after several decades in Alberta. He is pursuing a career as a professional musician. Born into a Jewish-Anglican family, Steve has universal respect for all spiritual paths. He and looks forward to helping you plan a unique and memorable service.
Lay Chaplain/Celebrant Fees
Ceremony: $250 (no tax)
Wedding rehearsal: $50
Travel: No charge for up to 20 km round trip.
